Delegate Sales Executive


Akabo Media is a provider of intelligence products and services to a range of professional sectors including supply chain, logistics and road user charging. The organisation is investing in future growth and is looking for a proactive, hardworking and tenacious delegate sales executive to help drive the business forward from our London office.

The Role

  • Working with other members of the team to develop your understanding of the events
  • Recruiting paid-for delegates to events, using both primary and secondary sourcing
  • Selling tables for our awards ceremonies
  • Work with the Marketing & Events Director to develop scripts for calls
  • Increasing the number of paid-for delegates and awards tables while maintaining an appropriate yield
  • Encouraging more delegate bookings per organisation
  • Adopting a telesales based approach, with follow up activities including email communications as required
  • When necessary, assisting with retention and conversion activities for free events
  • Passing leads to the sales team where applicable, e.g. for event sponsorship if more relevant for the prospect than delegate places
  • Keeping up-to-date records of all interactions and providing feedback to the team on prospects’ concerns, e.g. reasons for declines, competitive events, etc.
  • Updating records according to goneaways, replacements and changes and ensuring the team are informed on a regular basis
  • Providing progress reports on a weekly basis to the wider team
  • Developing knowledge of respective markets and audience members
  • Acting as an ambassador for the organisation and projecting Akabo Media’s values

The Candidate


  • Experience in telesales/telemarketing is favourable, but is not vital, so an ability to learn quickly and be proactive in developing your own understanding is important
  • Professional attitude, high-level customer service and an impeccable telephone manner
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Inquisitive approach to the wider markets serviced by the role and a desire to learn
  • Proactive and persevering personality
  • Ability to work on your own as much as part of the wider team
  • University graduate or equivalent calibre
  • Good understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word


  • Experience in telesales/telemarketing
  • Negotiation skills
